University Student Initiatives, as led by ASU Vice President, Dr. Jim Rund, oversees the numerous critical units that provide essential services to ASU students, including Student Affairs, the Office of the Registrar, Residential Life and many others.

Since 1994, the ASU Parents Association has recognized teaching excellence through its Professor of the Year Award. Each year, the Association asked students, staff and other faculty to nominate ASU professors who “best exemplify a passion for teaching and who excel in both undergraduate teaching and in their area of research and/or creative activity.” Winners are selected by a committee of parents, students, faculty, and staff, and the winner receives a cash award of $10,000, funding for an undergraduate research assistant, and a lifelong designation as a Parents Association Professor.
