Like many universities across the U.S., Arizona State University is navigating a complex set of budget issues resulting from a serious economic downturn at the state level.
On April 16, 2009, ASU’s Undergraduate Student Government hosted a town hall to address student budget concerns. ASU President Michael Crow and Senior Vice President and University Planner Rich Stanley attended to provide an update on university budget issues and explain a temporary economic recovery surcharge being proposed to the Arizona Board of Regents to help offset mid-year budget reductions and maintain quality at ASU.
This podcast features an excerpt of President Crow’s presentation about the impact of the state’s investment reductions, the rationale behind the proposed surcharge, and ASU’s ongoing commitment to financial aid.
