Biodesign Institute - President Crow

Date:
June 2, 2006

On May 31, the Arizona Republic reported that researchers from the Biodesign Institute at ASU are seeking permission to store and study the Avian-flu virus, otherwise known as the bird flu. Many scientists fear that the virus could mutate and initiate a human flu pandemic. The Biodesign Institute, consistent with its interdisciplinary focus on preventing and curing disease, overcoming the pain and limitations of injury, renewing and sustaining the environment, and securing a safer world, is interested in developing a vaccine against the strain.

Today’s podcast features remarks from President Michael Crow regarding the significance of the Biodesign Institute and its work as offered at this year’s dedication of the Biodesign B building.
