Great Fall Welcome
I want to thank everyone who attended yesterday afternoon's Fall Welcome at Wells Fargo Arena and all those who helped to coordinate this great event. The energy was outstanding as we gathered to welcome our newest Sun Devils, and Josh Spence and Lisa Love gave good talks about the spirit, pride and determination that define ASU. It was an inspiring kick off to the new semester and I enjoyed spending time with the Class of 2013. I'm looking foward to following their achievements at ASU.

Research Matters Part II - Solar Energy
A recent column in the Arizona Daily Star (see below) described why research universities are of significant importance to Arizona. This podcast, part two in a special series, highlights the relevance and benefits of university research at ASU. Dr. Devens Gust, Foundation Professor in ASU’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Director of ASU’s Energy Frontier Research Center, joins me to talk about his innovative solar energy research, the role teaching plays in discovery and the potentially meaningful outcomes of his work.
