We're off to a strong start

Date:
September 13, 2008

We’re only a few weeks into the semester and ASU is already breaking records, climbing the rankings, and showing how a highly competitive university succeeds in advancing access, excellence and impact.  Among our recent achievements:

We welcomed a record 9,700 freshman students and 168 National Merit Scholars, again  making ASU one of the top universities in the nation for high-achieving scholars.

We were named one of the top five “Up and Coming Schools” in the 2009 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report.

Our Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law was ranked as one of the top ten law schools in the nation for Hispanic students by Hispanic Business magazine.

Two of our faculty members, John Chaput and Rudy Diaz, were awarded million-dollar EUREKA grants to advance their research.

We opened new, state-of-the-art academic buildings and residence halls, and reopened the newly renovated Memorial Union

This strong start is just a taste of what’s to come in the months ahead and we’ll keep the pace going next week by hosting the Sustainability Solutions Summit in Washington, DC.
