Arizona 2030 Preparing for an Arizona of 10 Million People
On Monday, November 17, 2008, Arizona State University will be host a state-wide forum dedicated to addressing the major challenges facing Arizona as a result of its rapid growth. As the state continues to grow quickly, it is increasingly important to understand its trajectory and to plan accordingly for providing 10 million people the essential services of education, energy, health care public safety, telecommunication, transportation, water and wastewater.
The forum, which will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Memorial Union on the ASU Tempe campus, will feature a keynote from Norman Mineta, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, and the presentation of a new, extensive report titled, “Arizona 2030 Preparing for an Arizona of 10 Million People: Meeting the Infrastructure Challenges of Growth.”
This podcast features summary remarks from Dr. Dennis Hoffman, ASU University Economist, regarding Arizona’s imminent infrastructure needs and the importance of advancing a related dialogue in order to plan for the future. TechBA Arizona alliance fosters entrepreneurship and global engagement
In keeping with Arizona State University’s commitments to entrepreneurialism and global engagement, a major agreement was recently announced that will establish a technology business accelerator known as TechBA Arizona at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. In partnership with the United States-Mexico Foundation for Science and the Ministry of the Economy of Mexico, the venture will draw knowledge-based Mexican start-up businesses into the state and provide support for evolving their business in the U.S. or global marketplace. This podcast features a conversation with Julia Rosen, associate vice president for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, about TechBA and what it means for ASU, the state and Arizona trade efforts.
